Theora as you might not know it

Theora is a free and open video compression format from the Xiph.org Foundation. It's also one of the few truly free and open video formats available today. I'll be talking about the current state of Theora: its technical characteristics allowed by the specification, the current codec implementation and how they both compare to the other video codecs out there. We'll consider the significance of Theora's "free and open" aspect. Finally, we'll look at how Theora can be used, from the direct use of the reference codecs, through multimedia frameworks and ending on a number of existing applications and ways to take Theora-formatted content on-line.
