Audio Plumbing for Free Multimedia Software
Developers and users of audio and multi-media software running on free software platforms such as Linux face obstacles not present on platforms such as OS X and Windows. They also have opportunities and possibilities that are unique. This talk will survey the current state of the software environment for Linux multi-media applications, their developers and users. Users with Linux experience as well as those based entirely on proprietary platforms will hopefully gain a broader perspective on what is possible today, and what may be possible next week. I will also discuss the challenges of developing complex applications in the context of the libre software culture.
